Role Overview
We are seeking Construction Safety Professionals with proven experience to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support our clients by ensuring their projects are compliant with WorkSafeBC’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and uphold best practices in workplace safety. You will act on behalf of our clients, promoting a culture of safety while providing expert guidance and oversight.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site Health and Safety Representative for our clients.
- Conduct safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and procedures.
- Provide ongoing safety training, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, and generate detailed reports with recommendations.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and records.
- Foster and promote a positive safety culture through communication, collaboration, and leadership.
- Liaise with site supervisors, contractors, and workers to address safety concerns.
- Adapt to changing project environments and solve problems effectively.
- Perform other tasks as required to support safety operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a safety professional in construction.
- Valid certifications:
- Advanced First Aid (formerly OFA Level 3)
- Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or equivalent
- Construction Safety Coordinator (CSC) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
- Comprehensive knowledge of WorkSafeBC’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software.
- Proficiency in preparing reports and maintaining safety records.
- Commitment to teamwork, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
